Getting Ready

It's been a few years since we've been able to travel for any length of time (nothing over 2 weeks) so we are pretty pumped at being able to tramp around SW Italy and Provence in France for 5 weeks.  I've titled this blog Sicily because that's the spot that we'll spend the longest portion of our trip.

We decided in SW Italy and Sicily because we have never been there and have often talked about this beautiful and intriguing area.  I have to admit that a smile comes to my face when I think about seeing the gorgeous Italian coastline and the Mediterranean Sea.  Italy really does favorably offer all our favorite characteristics of culture: history, wine, architecture, gastronomy, wine, people, handicrafts and artistic products, geographical diversity, proximity to the sea, wine, climate---did I mention wine?  Well, it is really good there.

France has much to offer, too.  In fact, all of the above pertains to this gorgeous country as well.
Plus, we have good friends Ann and Terry whom we enjoy very much, and it's difficult to travel to this vicinity without stopping in to greet them.  In addition, we will visit Bordeaux, Provence and the Loire region which produce---wine, of course.
